Growing older

Why is it that as time passes, we (or maybe just me) start to become more risk adverse? Time has slowly washed away my guts to venture into something unknown and stopped me from following my instincts. Every step taken has to be thought through over and over again, weighing the pros and cons, wondering about the repercussions that follow. Maybe this is what we call calculated risk. Perhaps with our years of education, our brain has been programmed to be analytical in every single aspect. Spontaneity is what makes our lives more exciting, but I chose to live otherwise. Are failures and mistakes such influential factors in our decision making process? Somehow that seems to be the case for me. Won't it be nice if I am able to gain back that daredevil spirit. After all, we live for the present. Worrying for the future can take a backseat for now.
